Welding Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance (WITA) was founded in Shanghaiin May 2016. WITA is a national industrial technology innovation strategic alliance based on the relevant documents on the strategic alliance of industrial technology innovation and the strategic planning requirements on national science and technology innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and other six national ministries. WITA is led by Shanghai Tayor Heavy Industry Group Co. Ltd., and combined with domestic universities, research institutes and steel manufacturing units as the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company Research Institute, Taiyuan Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., School of materials science and engineering of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Machinery Industry Information Research Institute "Metal Processing" magazine, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, Beijing Jia Ke Emerging Technology Co. Ltd. and Shougang Technology Research Institute. WITA is in line with the principle of industrial-academic-research cooperation and takes efforts to develop the scientific and technological potential and expertise of all levels of units to carry out their scientific and efficient combination.
